I created this card in Inkscape .47 and then couldn't cut it! SCAL1 did not see the rectangle's at all! Still don't know why but it appears that something is not working properly in the pre-release, oh well. I had hoped to get a jump on Inkscape while waiting for SCAL2 to become available for my Mac but I guess it is not to be.
Anywhoo. What I finally did was "export bitmap" of the digital design I did in Inkscape and opened it in Adobe PhotoShop Elements. A little futzing with size and then I printed it on matte glossy paper.
I really like it alot and since I'm one of the original "dumpster divers" of the 1960's and continuing on to "garage sale diva" and then to selling what I found on Ebay until pricing and postage killed that it works for all my friends and family.
I really love the versatility, change the colors, change the and it will fit just about any occasion for which to celebrate with a gift! Put it on a card, or a white gift bag or to advertise your GS, who knows where else?
LEARNING HOW TO FISH
- Sawtooth border: make some triangles (see my HOW TO for help if you don't know how to make one.) Path/Object to Path. Duplicate the triangle about 8-10 times
- Use the align tool to get them nice and even. I like the align bottoms personally.
- Draw a rectangle about the right width and depth. Path/Object to Path.
- Trust me it is just easier to drag the triangles on top of the rectangle select all and Path/Union. Instead of messing with put on path which I find gives interesting results sometimes, especially in Inkscape .47.
Or just wimp out and download the pieces here and then figure out how to make it fit whatever you need.
Comments are always welcome as are getting to see what you come up with. Send them along and I'll post them or a link to your site. You do know how to do a screen capture don't you?

I like this. Great work
Thank you so much for this Freebie. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in Creative Busy Hands Cricut Freebies Search List, under the Elements post on Aug. 21, 2009. Thanks again.
I agree, it is faster to duplicate and the add the triangles. Plus you have more control over the positioning of the triangles.
I like this project and will make a similar card. I can see your border idea looking good on my Christmas cards. Thank you for the ideas.
Hi Susan, I am trying to add a direct link to this post, but when I click on the title it gives me a blank page. I have added a link but it will expire when you add more posts. Any suggestions?
Carolyn
